Doctoring, Torture and the War on Terror

Minneapolis, 14 January 2008 - On Tuesday, January 15 Steven H. Miles, MD, will discuss torture in the War on Terror and the role medical professionals have played.  Dr. Miles is a University of Minnesota Professor of Medicine and an expert in medical ethics.  In the lecture, he will explore how torture has been used on prisoners of the War on Terror, the participation of medical professionals in torture, and the implications for human rights. 

Dr. Miles’ lecture will begin at 12:00 p.m. at North Central University’s T.E. Trask Center, 14th St E and Elliot Ave S, Minneapolis.  The event is free and open to the public.  Please register at www.mmrf.org.  Light refreshments will be served following the lecture and Dr. Miles will be signing his new book Oath Betrayed: Torture, Medical Complicity, and the War on Terror.
